That’s not the hypothesis I was referring to. I was referring to the notion that small isolated populations of honey bees can develop mite resistance and that this resistance can be passed along by propagating the queens therefrom.
I think disease resistance is normally produced in large populations and is propagated by the loss of susceptible individuals and the swamping of the population by the genes that express the beneficial behavior complex.
