The Arizona State Museum at the University of Arizona seeks a Database Specialist, Senior. The Database Specialist, Senior position is a 1.0 full-time equivalency (FTE) classified staff position within the collections division of the Arizona State Museum (ASM), University of Arizona. The Database Specialist, Senior position reports to the ASM Head of Collections. The weekly work schedule is usually 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday although some scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate special museum events. The incumbent assists in the implementation, operations, and maintenance of the museum’s collections information systems and database. The incumbent will perform duties in fulfillment of Arizona State Museum’s (ASM’s) state-mandated policies and responsibilities. This position combines functions involving operational oversight and content management for the Collections databases including the ASM-CCIS (hosted by Axiell EMu), Library & Archives (Voyager library Catalog Software system), Arizona Records Office (SQL-SDE), and specialty databases in Microsoft Access. The incumbent will collaborate with technical teams from the Office of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI CITTT), and central Campus IT organizations to ensure the security and maintenance of ASM databases.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes initiative to master new skills, works to improve functionality and efficiency, and can independently manage specific projects to successful completion while contributing to a highly-integrated team environment. The successful candidate will model the highest degree of professionalism, work ethic, and interpersonal engagement with colleagues while working to support the museum’s programs and policies.
