Histarch has been a miraculous presence in my work, and I have often
referred others for its assistance expressed my appreciation publicly.
As always, thank you Anita and all who have responded to my various queries.
S. Walter

Hi All,

Earlier this week, there was a disruption in HISTARCH emails. Most people
may not have noticed.

Anita Cohen-Williams set up HISTARCH about 25 years ago. For all those years
she has quietly moderated and administered the email list. We are all deeply
indebted to her for her service.

All those years ago, Anita set up the list at Arizona State University.
Earlier this week, after an administrative change, the ASU systems
administrators deleted the list and its archive. There was no faculty or
staff member that "owned" the list.

After some initial panic, two ASU faculty stepped in to help resolve the
problem. We are indebted to Drs. Peeples and Barton for their help. The
list was subsequently restored.

Anita is working to migrate the list membership and archive to a new host,
which will hopefully last for another 25 years and last as a permanent
archive.

Please be on the lookout for posts from Anita over the next thirty days.
Hopefully this will all be seamless, but keep your eyes open!

I wish to offer my personal thanks to Anita. HISTARCH has been a fundamental
communication venue over my entire professional career.

Best,
Tim
