Following the one box wintering discussion: I am interested in providing
some top insulation for overwintering and am curious what people use. I
would prefer to cut something out of 4x8 sheets if possible.

In my work in Eastern Europe and Georgia most beekeepers use a quilted
pillow laid on top of a sheet of plastic that covers the frames, topped by
a heavy and deep outer cover, usually on Dadant-Blatt hives. The plastic
makes me nervous (moisture) and the pillows and telescoping covers are too
cumbersome. I use a migratory cover made from 3/4 plywood with end cleats
and want something I can put underneath the cover that will provide some
insulation but not cause moisture problems.

thanks,

Bill Lord
