Yesterday we did four more cut-outs of remote feral bees in SE Utah with no gloves or veils. Each time it's like this, which is nearly always, I can't help thinking the steady drone of the vacuum, and perhaps powertools, whether sound or vibration, disrupts their community defenses. I've noticed the same with a chainsaw. It reminds me of some of the first advice I got years ago about moving bees - leave the vehicle running when you get the destination and are unloading.
