I think Mark and Mike have pretty much nailed the answer. Liz Walsh (who writes a little article on occasions for the Kelley News Lettter and is a graduate student working with Dr Juiana Ragel) has been doing behaviorial studies concening the effects of at least one of these compounds in regards to queen retinue size and queen supersedure. She may well have a poster at the ABF meet up in Galvston in Januay. The Texas A&M Bee Lab aiso has a web page and a facebook page if you need to contact her directly.
