find a cold winter requires no more food than a mild one, in fact they
often consume less when it's cold.
Mild winters = more flying, more brood and therefore more stores consumed.
Cold winters with a milder flying day every couple of weeks is ideal - little activity, but cleansing flights when needed. I wonder whether we will ever see weather like that again!
