The photo is too small for me to ID. Unlikely that they are the
parasitoids of recent fearmongering.
Phorids can be found in all types of areas, including decaying organic
matter, glues, drains, garbage, open wounds ,etc. They are a serious
pest in insect rearing facilities where they feed on dead insect bodies.
I'd wager that Phoridae is the most pestiferous family of flies. I've
seen infestations in hospital operating rooms, restaurants, mausoleums
that would make many folks very ill. Can be very difficult to control as
well.
