Originally liquid formic was just shot in on the bottom board with a
syringe or like device (such as a sheep drenching tool). The switch was
then made to soaked pads, news paper, etc slid in. These slowed
release. None had the efficacy which we found later by placing the pad
on the top bars, they were however very good for dropping queens.
