The Fordham University (1840) "Rose Hill" (1787) site was/is excavated by Allan Gilbert, PhD and others. "Rose Hill" was the name originally given to the site in 1787 by its owner, Robert Watts, a wealthy New York merchant, in honor of his family's ancestral home in Scotland." - in Wikipedia "Fordham University" A number of field-schools seasons I recall were held there. He also has a collection or "library" of historic bricks that can be sampled for analysis and compared to local earthenwares perhaps. Bricks were made all over the NY/NJ region. One small brick courthouse/post office in Coram, Long Island, NY was said made from the clay dug across the street. The "Tea Room" house next door was once visited by Eleanor Roosevelt.
