POSITION: Anthropology/Archaeology Laboratory Manager and NAGPRA Assistant
This person=92s primary responsibility will be assisting the Laboratory=20
Director with NAGPRA compliance activities. Other responsibilities will=20
include training and supervising work study students, managing the college=
=92s=20
archaeological and ethnographic collections, and exercising operational=20
management over daily laboratory operations and budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum BA/BS in anthropology or related field (master=92s=
=20
degree preferred) with experience working with material culture, both=20
archaeological and ethnographic. Familiarity with NAGPRA and CRM highly=20
desirable.
A successful candidate will have:
=B7 the ability to supervise and manage a small though active anthropology=
=20
lab, including a staff of undergraduate work study students.
=B7 experience in standard archaeological practices and methodologies as=20
applied to the processing, description, and accessioning of artifacts;=20
familiarity with fundamental conservation a plus
=B7 strong skills with IBM-compatible personal computers, especially in the=
=20
area of database management; familiarity with MS-Access highly desirable
=B7 a working knowledge of photography, particularly as applied to the=20
recording artifacts for archival purposes
=B7 familiarity with the practice and techniques of field archaeology and=20
excavation
=B7 the ability to adjust to and work efficiently within the dynamic=20
environment of a student-oriented, private liberal arts college
APPOINTMENT: 9 to 10 months, with the possibility of a permanent position
WAGE/SALARY: approximately $9 to $11 per hour, depending upon experience
BENEFITS: N/A for a temporary position
