Chris I think is fortunate to have Hedera hibernica - and a climate which seems to enable his bees to use the very fast granulating, hard honey that it produces."
I once sent a sample of my ivy honey from the Isle of Portland to Gavin Ramsay for a TLA test and was surprised when he told me that it was Hedera hibernica rather than helix as I had assumed hibernica to be Irish and Ireland is about 200 miles away. The honey is strongly flavoured and crunchy with, according to customers, citrus overtones.
