As you can easily see, their numbers indicate an increase of almost one million colonies from 2002 to 2012, and the current level is higher than pre-varroa. So much for the bee apocalypse?
I would add to that Pete, that I suspect we are very near another decline in numbers due to lack of interest.
Honey markets have dropped like a rock, and more bees than I have ever seen before for sale at low prices, as long as you take full truckloads.
Even package sales are off a bit.
