The paradigm of Japanese vs. Korean mite genotypes and their virulence  
(as in reproductive rate) may be a bit of an oversimplification.  The  
apparent transition from initially low reproduction of mites in Brazil  
(ascribed to Japanese mites) to higher reproduction (presumably found  
in Korean mites) does not coincide very well in time with the changes  
in those genotypes.  More broadly, Denis Anderson has found all kinds  
of levels of virulence in different associations of mites and bees in  
Asia, some quite "odd".  And some appear to have changed mostly  
towards virulence (or high reproduction).
