Bard Graduate Center invites applications from scholars specializing in
objectbased studies of the arts and material culture of the Americas.
Candidates should demonstrate a substantial record of scholarly achievement,
and the ability to teach and supervise research in eighteenth and
nineteenthcentury North America. Preference will be given to those with a
secondary field in the material culture of the Atlantic World, the
Caribbean, Latin America, or African Diaspora. Ph.D. required, rank open.
Bard Graduate Center is a graduate research institute committed to the study
of the cultural history of the material world, drawing on methodologies and
approaches from art and design history, economic and cultural history,
history of technology, philosophy, anthropology, and archaeology. Applicants
