I have a healthy mix of screened bottom boards with solid bottom boards in
my yards. I don't like screened bottom boards, but I bought a guy out a few
years ago, and I'll be darned if I'm going to trash perfectly "good"
equipment. Colonies with screened bottom boards certainly beard less, but
their overall behaviors appear to be just about the same. I've found an
upper entrance works better than a screened bottom board. But anecdotal at
best. Not like I have any evidence to support it.
