RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS IN PREHISTORIC ART
What does art tell us about the thoughts of their makers? Each group
of art, and even each figure, may have its conceptual content. The art of
non-literate people is a window open to the landscape of their mind
and language.
In various corners of the world scholars' attempts at decoding are
often inadequately or just locally known.
The exchange of information on a world level can increase the
knowledge of these local efforts and, at the same time, contribute to
enhancing communication and the progress of research.
Colleagues and friends interested in prehistoric and tribal art are
invited to participate, proposing their papers, their ideas and the
results of their research to a world-wide audience. EXPRESSION
quarterly journal is reaching institutions, scholars and students in
over 85 countries, Papers may focus
on specific cases as well as on general trends, on the description of
beliefs, ceremonies, myths and traditions revealed by the images.
Diffusing knowledge and ideas is diffusing the interest in
research to a wider audience.
Atelier research center and EXPRESSION quarterly journal have produced
several publications on the decoding of the art of non-literate
people, mostly concerning European prehistoric art, but much work
still remains to be done and, besides Europe, pertinent studies on the
art of other continents would contribute to a broader overview.
Enclosed is a complimentary copy of EXPRESSION 33 where additional
information is supplied on how to present a paper to this quarterly
journal, and the catalogue of available publications. If you wish to
receive the next issue of EXPRESSION for free please let us know.

Let us hear from you.
Cordial regards and best wishes for the coming festivities and for the
coming year.
