Nothing I have seen nor heard has persuaded me that this is anything other than a scam that exploits and encourages know-nothing beekeeping.

You could do almost the same thing by keeping bees in a pail. At the bottom you would have a spigot and at the top, a plunger. Periodically push the plunger down and drain honey out the bottom.
