> Some folks claim requeening a hive can have a very nearly immediate effect which would be unrelated to the workers that she would eventually produce (replacing a colonies workers with her daughters would take months).

I have seen this many times, but one particular instance stays in my mind. We were re-queening a particularly vicious colony some years ago - the sort where you pray that you will find the queen quickly! I found the queen, killed her and threw her into the undergrowth. Within seconds - before the new queen was introduced - the colony became quiet and docile; it was most uncanny. I put in the new queen which was accepted and we had no more bad temper.

Best wishes
