Hello Everyone! I have a random question for a weekend.
Honey Bee alarm pheromone smells like bananas (isopentyl acetate). However,
I'm not aware of any actual "banana incidents."
Generally, bees seem pretty uninterested in the fruit, and I've seen people
eat bananas next to open hives with no response.
Have any of you had any **actual** bee/banana interactions?
Any stories of a snack gone awry? Is this an urban myth?
Bee/Banana aggression has been proposed as a potential murder weapon, which
sounds wonderful for mystery fiction, but not so great for realistic bee
behavior.
Discuss! :)
