Bayer working
with beekeepers is simply
good publicity. Yes, it may
benefit beekeepers, but Bayer
would not do this if it did
not benefit them in some way.
Actually, Bayer was one of the first companies to produce a product to control mites. Their product "Varrostan" is referenced as early as 1977. Later (1985) they distributed "Perizin" and "Bayvarol".
Their product "CheckMite" has been credited with saving millions of hives. Chemical companies produce products people want.
How is this different from me selling honey? There are plenty of people (vegans) who think that taking honey from bees is wrong.
