Some of these hives have high mite counts, determined by confectionery
sugar shakes. The mite treatment will be MAQS. I have not been able to
find comment on http://www.nodglobal.com/ regarding "proper dose" for such
hives. Surprisingly I do not find a "contact us" link on NOD's pages
either.
Aaron, I have used MAQS a lot and what your describing is going to be
harder than normal. I believe the only answer is to split the hives and try
to determine how much brood there is, and then use 1 packages( 2 pads) per
2 deep equivalent. Its kind of a combination of total fumes and fumes close
to the brood. I know the effects drop a lot when you use a single pad on a
smaller brood like a single, but if you use 2 pads on a single you kill a
lot more brood.
I would look more at OA given the situation. I switched almost completely,
but due to cost and storage more than anything. MAQS was effective.
