Same over here - with no AHB. I have seen bees (meeters and greeters) that start to attack when you get within 20-30 yards and have had some that will follow for well over 100 yards. It's rare but it happens.
Usual problem is hybrids with Carnica x A.m.m. often being the worst, although a large influx of A.m. ligustica into this area years ago continues to cause problems.
Day before yesterday I opened a lovely colony of A.m.m. with no smoke, despite the cool conditions. Very docile and quiet on the comb while I clipped the queen.
