For several years I fetched bees from S Georgia back to Rhode Island -
usually only 300-400 packages.
I found the most effective from time and money was a oneway flight to
Atlanta, stay overnight, rent a 24ft truck and drive the 1000 miles back
overnight. Doing it this way my costs were about $2.50 per mile, which
included the the airfare and hotel.
If I had just done a straight one way A to B trip without the airfare it
would have been $2.00 per mile.
