Pete, you continue to quote Mattila's papers. May I again strongly suggest
that you reread all three (would be glad to name the three titles and point
out paragraphs of interest, off list), deeply going into the M&M and
results.
Their work was excellent, but none of their conclusions would apply to
areas in which there was not a strong fall pollen flow. Their "pollen
restricted" colonies were awash in pollen and beebread, so of course there
was no benefit from supplying extra pollen.
