With all the recent speculation on the part of some academics
that neonics might be reducing aquatic insect populations via
runoff from farm fields contaminating rivers and lakes I though
it was ironic to read about a massive Mayfly emergence that
has been occurring in recent days in and around farm towns
southeast of Minneapolis that border the Mississippi River:

The emergence has been so massive that the Mayflies left a big
slimy mess on roadways that contributed to a three-car crash:
