I had a similar experience 2 years ago.  After several discussions finally
attributed it to absconding due to Thymol treatment, I had used the Apiguard
trays and assume it was during a time in the fall when outdoor temps got
high. 3 of 11 hives were found just empty. Is that a possibility?

Dave,  I asked this morning,  he said no mite apigaurd since spring.

Odd thing to add there a post on BS this morning about another individual
with similar report,  hes about 100 miles as the crow flies away.  Normaly
with a hobbiest I wouldn't notice,  but its interesting hes reporting almost
identical  notices.. lots of bees,  all gone in a week.  Little to no
deads....
