That is a very good question, especially given what little we know and hear "concerns" about cellular RF as a possible cause of CCD ;-)

The Carrizo Plain National Monument 
http://www.blm.gov/style/medialib/blm/ca/pdf/bakersfield/carrizo.Par.34151.File.dat/CPNM%20Rec%20Map%20Guide.pdf consists of 250,000 acres of Central California "High Desert" with a very recent installation of about 5,000 acres of Solar Farms in the Northernmost section of this valley. The USFWS established a conservation plan for 19,000 acres of lands, primarily protecting native species, but this may be a great site for a study of pesticide free conditions with what I assume would be a high RF (or reflection effects).

I have thought about setting up a small test apiary on my family property in the South Caliente Range foothills. I know of a couple of natural springs within about a mile of our property, but will have to study this list to determine  if there are enough native food supplies to sustain these bees.
