TheUNM Department of Anthropology invites applications for a probationarytenure-track faculty position in Ethnology at the level of AssistantProfessor.  We seek a scholar who willcomplement a three-subfield department (including archaeology and evolutionaryanthropology) with national recognition for scholarship and graduate fieldworktraining. 
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
 
Earned PhD in Social or cultural     Anthropology or aligned field by the start of the appointment.

2.   Ethnographicresearch focus in the Americas, including this department’s historic focus uponthe Southwest, Native North America and/or Latin America.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
1.      Demonstrated research in theethnographic documentation and analysis of natural resources, the variouspotentially conflicting practices through which people are engaging them, andthe politics surrounding the resources and the practices.
2.      Evidence that the candidate isconversant with contemporary sociocultural theory and theoretical debates
3.      Evidence that the candidate isconversant with debates surrounding contemporary and innovative methodologiesand media technologies.
4.      Demonstrated commitment tohigh-quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels ofanthropology.
5.      Evidence of peer-reviewedpublications and recent presentations of ongoing work that shows researchproductivity involving ethnographic work.
6.      Demonstrated planned and/oron-going extramurally funded research program that supports an active anthropologicalfield research program.
7.      Demonstrated ability tocollaborate in integrative interdisciplinary research and expertise that willcomplement existing strengths at UNM.
8.      Demonstrated commitment todiversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, and well as working withbroadly diverse communities.
