Thanks for the replies everyone, I am convinced that next spring I will give
this a try, if I see a upswing in the mite count I can always fall back to
Oxalic acid drench in sugar water. This year I had a low mite count using
thyme in the smoker but that is not the whole story. I planted several
patches of various flowers to promote the general health of the bees which
may have been the larger factor.
