ART AND RELIGION

Colleagues and friends concerned with prehistoric and tribal art are
cordially invited to propose their papers for a
forthcoming issue of EXPRESSION quarterly journal on ART AND RELIGION.
Please indicate your topic or title as soon as possible. The deadline
for submission of papers is the 1st of July 2021.
The rock art sites have been places of worship and tribal identity for
millennia, serving as archives of myths, beliefs and rites. They
evolved, diversified and displayed regional and ethnic features.
Figurative art exposes aspects of beliefs which are revolutionizing
the history of religion. But much more can be revealed by the art.
Visual art is not the earliest evidence of the presence of religion.
Burial customs and burial goods express concepts and beliefs going
back even earlier than the earliest known patterns of figurative art.
However, prehistoric art is exposing an immense variety of images and
concepts. Almost every rock art site may reveal the notions of their
makers about their vision of mythic ancestors, spirits, gods, and
other beings and powers of the invisible world. The comparative view
of the many facets of imagining the invisible can be enriched by the
contributions of new documentation, new ideas and new thinking. Papers
may focus on specific cases as well as on general trends, on rituals
and religious beliefs as revealed by images, in both extinct and
recent cultures.
Submission of papers is welcome, allowing your ideas and discoveries
to reach readers in over 82 countries. A complimentary copy of
EXPRESSION quarterly journal is available for free upon request:

We are looking forward to hearing from you,
Cordial regards and best wishes,
