I'm located in Alabama, one half way between Montgomery and Mobile. Getting into my hives the last week in January I noticed some surprising things. The hives are building up quite rapidly, one hive had seven or eight brood frames of brood in all stages from eggs to emerging bees plus one Illinois super just above it also with seven or eight frames of brood in all stages. Several of the hives had some drones crawling around and capped drone brood. Fortunately I did not notice and swarm cells being built at this time. It seems like everything here is two to four weeks in advance of normal development. FYI, I currently have nine active hives. Mike in LA
