There is talk about robot bees doing pollination
That's another misrepresentation. The military has funded studies of bees
for robotics, but as far as I know (and I've strong ties to this type of
research) they've no interest in developing mechanical pollinators.

Well, there is talk! ; )
But seriously, this is straight from the website at Harvard:
Practical Applications
Coordinated agile robotic insects can be used for a variety of purposes including:
• autonomously pollinating a field of crops;
• search and rescue (e.g., in the aftermath of a natural disaster);
• hazardous environment exploration;
• military surveillance;
• high resolution weather and climate mapping; and
• traffic monitoring.
