Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the CALL FOR PAPERS ENDS ON JUNE 30th! If you plan to be in the field later this month, it is best to get your abstracts in and start coordinating with your colleagues on sessions now. Due to the anticipated large volume of papers, late submissions will not be accepted.

A common question asked of our program chair is if you can serve as the primary author on more than one paper. You can only be the primary author on ONE paper at this conference; however, there is no limit on the number of times you co-author, participate in forums, or serve as a session discussant.

DETAILS

The 2016 Conference will be held in Washington D.C. from January 6-9, 2016 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. This year’s theme, A Call to Action: The Past and Future of Historical Archaeology, was chosen to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act and the creation of the National Park Service 100 years ago.

The abstract submission period closes on June 30th, and each session organizer and individual presenter must pay a non-refundable $25 per abstract fee at the time of submission and agree with the SHA Ethics Statement. All presenters, organizers, and discussants must register for the 2016 Conference in the fall at the full conference rate.

The 2016 Call for Papers and the link for the online abstract submission system can be found on the SHA website at: http://www.sha.org/index.php/view/page/annual_meetings
If you have questions about your submission, please contact Program co-Chairs, Julie Schablitsky or Lisa Kraus, at [log in to unmask]

We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C. in January!

Sincerely,

The SHA 2016 Conference Committee
