Surely it must be desirable to have workers that live as long as
possible as they will spend more time foraging. How can one select for
longevity in workers except by using long-lived queens. Frequent
re-queening is short term thinking. So far I have had only one marked
queen pass her 4th birthday before departing with a swarm, but 3 year
olds are frequent.
