>I am in search of a reference about the efficiency of proventriculus in the
extraction of pollen from the honey crop.
Perhaps this leads to other questions, such as:
Why do bees have a proventriculus to filter out pollen?
Do they digest that pollen?
If so, how much does an adult bee require?
If so, does that requirement vary?
If so, does the proventriculus filter out just the bees current need, or
does it work all the time filtering the maximum possible with the bees
digestive system expelling any surplus to its needs?
Best wishes
