I have two hives that have exhibited chalkbrood for at least three years in
a row. They are reasonable good producers so I have not done anything
drastic to them. Reading the recent posts regarding chalkbrood and bananas,
I thought I would try putting a banana skin in each entrance. ( I am too
cheap to give them the whole banana). The first one went in smoothly enough,
only causing a small disturbance among the bees at the entrance. As I put
the second one in, the bees from the first one came boiling out and I got at
least a dozen stings on the head and arms. (I was carrying the banana skins
with my bare hands.)

I will report on the effect, if any, on the chalkbrood next time I summon up
enough courage to go back to that yard.

                                    Best regards
