To Christina's point. Do the mites stop in the winter?? I was under the impression that everything slowed, but not stopped. So assumption being that mite levels would always be higher in the spring than they were going into winter.?
Brood breaks don't stop mites, never have. Just slowed them down. Thinking being that slowing them more than once a year (winter for us) allowed the queen to as Mel Dissolken puts it "outbreed" the mites.
