It is exactly why Russians and mites mix well, it's called the phoretic
period.
One of my four yards is only Russian and  I have bred the Russian into
those in the other yards, i.e. constantly flooding with drones each year.
Because we here in Ontario who have been issued a q/nuc permit undergo
yearly inspection
in the "bred into yards"  5 weeks ago, the inspectors did an alcohol wash
and
ready for this------ zero mites in the randomly selected hives .
I found it pays off
As I stated in another post back whenever, I've given up on formic for all
the reasons above
and since Nod reduced the concentration to 45% requiring two apps,  I see
my friends out there in beeland affected in the pocket book and hive
performance.
