Dear Colleagues,

Beginning today, Monday, June 10 the Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE) is hosting an online forum on the topic of evaluation in informal science education (ISE). The forum will run through Friday, June 14 and is open to anyone who wants to participate in the discussion at any time during the week. The goal of the discussion is to raise issues and identify common questions about themes such as: the role of summative evaluation in ISE; improving the practice and outcomes of evaluation in ISE; building evidence for the impact of ISE; fostering innovation in ISE evaluation; and other themes that arise from the field.

The forum will inform an ongoing CAISE initiative on evaluation in ISE that includes small convenings, working groups and potentially, the development of new resources. The online forum is taking place on the new CAISE website, www.informalscience.org. More information about the new site is below. To participate in the forum, please join informalscience.org and then visit the Community page of the site. Join the CAISE Evaluation in ISE Initiative group and visit the group to view and contribute to the forum. Please allow 24 hours to receive approval to join the group.

CAISE Launches New Resource for Informal Science Education

CAISE has launched a new version of the website-www.informalscience.org-to provide a one-stop shop of resources and connectivity for ISE professionals and those collaborating with them. This major rebuilding consolidates the data and functionality of several existing websites where members of the informal STEM education community meet online to search for and share resources, disseminate findings and outcomes, and connect with others in the rich, multi-sector ISE field.

Join a growing network of informal science education professionals on our new, integrated platform to:

-Publish and disseminate informal STEM learning research and development project descriptions and evaluation reports.

-Form interest groups that support meetings and professional development opportunities, as well as member searches, networking, and sorting and sharing resources.

-Share perspectives that aid navigation of the field, and highlight sectors and special topics that make the resources available on the site more relevant.

-Find research products and reference materials contributed by colleagues across the field and connected with informal STEM learning project work.

-Learn about evaluation management strategies, with resources such as the PIs Guide to Managing Evaluation in Informal STEM Education Projects (now mobile compatible).

Join www.informalscience.org today to connect with this growing community of your colleagues.
