Re alarm pheromone--no need to burn the gloves, it evaporates quickly.
Re treating gloves after washing. I've tried a number of leather
treatments, with varying successes--some very good. So I went to baseball
glove manufacturer's websites for their recommendations. They strongly
recommended Vaseline (petroleum jelly). I've now used for a couple of
years (we wear gloves for winter bee work). Rub in lightly onto the damp
gloves as they dry. So far, happy with it.
