I would add to the debate that the number of spores transferred by a hive
tool is probably near zero, but all it takes is one, time and a little
serendipity.
Actually, that's my point. You say that it only takes one and that is wrong. Isn't it? It takes a specific minimum fed to specific aged larvae to cause infection. So why do we perpetuate the myth rather than tell the real story more accurately?
I think washing tools is fine, but don't try to convince me that we are doing anything other than putting the spores beyond reach, not killing them at all.
