I've just finished pulling off honey supers and because of weight am thinking of switching to 8 frame equipment. I've heard it may be a better size for the bees. They don't work into the outside frames easily in 10 frame and the winter cluster moves up easier in 8 frame. But before I make the plunge I was looking for opinions about using 8 frame hives. I would like to know if it is a better size. I live OC (outside Chicago) so wintering is important. I have about 35 hives and want to get to about 50 with about the same in nucs. ( use the 10 frame bodies for this)
