Hello David & All,
I find your post very interesting.
Seems like your wife was taking a similar test as mine.
I have observed two cases of shock. (in archives but never had a problem myself)
Both solved with an epipen.
One given an epipen by me and the other others with me standing looking on.
My first mentor spoke of one beekeeper doing a drinking straw throat placement on another to save his life (in archives).
When I posted many on the list expressed outrage at even posting the procedure ( in archives)
but shock is a life or death situation.
Certainly a very dangerous measure but was taught between beekeepers back in the model T days a 100 years ago.
The point my mentor was trying to make to me was to remain calm. To relax.
The throat slowly closes in most cases I have onbserved and from what EMT's have told me. CERTAINLY EXCEPTIONS!
My mentor took my young finger and showed me the place to make a small slit and insert the drinking straw.
The time period was over fifty years ago and no cell phones and help was a long time arriving.
I post only for information purposes.
At this time I am not planning on giving up beekeeping but will keep an epipen close by and will wear a surgical mask.
Thanks for the post David!
bob
