> With all the talk on AFB recently what are the thoughts on selling a square of old brood comb for $15 to help hold bees in a new TB hive.
I was contacted by the person selling the old brood comb for top bar
hive starter strips and she had the state inspector inspect the comb.
I think the link I including made it possible to trace my email or
someone contacted her, or possibly she reads this list but any way I
was sent a scan of the recent inspection. There was evidence of mite
kill and some dead brood which he advised her to pick out. I am glad
that there was an inspection, it is now included on the web page that
the comb has been inspected. I am still not convinced that Maine is a
good climate for this type of hive.
I will stick to my Langstroth hives,
Karen
