evolved. But possible intermediate stages with adaptive value can be
imagined and are a good way to gain a deeper understanding of evolution. It
is unfortunate that these are just the kinds of examples used to argue that
evolution is impossible: 'the argument from ignorance of intermediate
stages'. Sometimes shortened to 'the argument from ignorance'.
