Google 'Observation Hive'. You may also want to look at Karl Showler's book
'The Observation Hive'.
Some of the best that I have seen are at Quince Honey Farm at South Molton
in Devon with opening hives - if you are into motors and lots of string!

The main consideration is whether you want it to be an ongoing sustainable
colony, or something that you set up each year.
>She also has some spare concrete blocks and intends to build a smokeless
'chimney' for bees to occupy!
Inspection? Disease?
Best wishes
