Watching Shark Week on Myth Buster after finishing Apiary Practicum for
OnLine Apprentice Bee course reminded me of recent claims:
1) Drones control swarming in a bee colony,
Corollary, Presence of Old Drones Induces Swarming.
2) Drones influence air movement and temperature control in hives
Corollary, This is particularly true of Top Bar Hives
3) Bees in Top Bar hives are happier than bees in Langstroth hives
Corollary, Leave Top Bar bees alone, feed to encourage swarming, this
increases the numbers of bee colonies in an area, benefits the environment.
4) Barefoot beekeeping is a low stress, natural way of keeping bees.
Corollary, barefoot beekeepers gets lots of stings.
So, what do you think? Myth, Possible, Probable, or Confirmed?
Jerry
