This is a riff on Zach Hwang's "juvenile hormone" work, but in this case, it
verges on the "obvious" to note that colonies that keep losing foragers will
suffer as wave after wave of house bees step up to take on foraging earlier
than they otherwise would.
Note that this paper uses a mix of gathered data and modeled data.
I'm not a big fan of models of beehive dynamics.
Remember the USDA "VarroaPop"?, yeah the video game no one could win.
Like Tetris, all one could do was to delay the inevitable.
Not a lot of practical help in there.
