Juanse, I was in New Zealand last week at their conference and saw the
machine. In my opinion it would be good for part time beekeepers with a few
hives. I cannot see it being used in a commercial situation even though the
inventor is using it himself. It is very manual, having to process each
frame individually. It has to be plastic foundation either a full plastic
frame or plastic in a wooden frame. It then has the wax and honey in a 20
litre pail. You then have to bring that pail back to a shed and then
separate out the wax and honey.
Bees have to draw out the plastic foundation again. This loss of honey
through wax production I don't believe will be compensated for by the price
you would get for the wax.
In my opinion it was a bit pricy at over NZ$3000.
I compare this to a commercial beekeeper here that we took Jerry Bromenshenk
to see the week before where he has a 100 frame horizontal radial extractor.
So overall it is a good concept. I believe it has a place for part time
beekeepers with a few hives who can do the "extraction" in the field. It
was well made. Juanse, I don't think you will be rushing out to buy one for
your operation.
